Teddy 2008 auction piece "Teddy 2008", Teddy 2008 is a 30 inch bear is created by Iowa teddy bear artist Steve Schutt using Schulte sparse, distressed mohair in a medium brown color that was donated by Edinburgh Imports. The bear’s body has been ’humanized’ in form so that it wears clothing well. This body is jointed at the hip, the shoulders and at the top of the neck to create a variety of posing options. His eyes are reproduction shoe buttons and his nose and mouth are embroidered pearl cotton. He wears vintage spectacles, a reproduction sailor suit and new shoes and socks. He sits on a natural loomed rug. Note the bear is reading a one of a kind Sunday comic section designed and handdrawn/watercoloured by teddy bear artist Darlene Allen. The comic strip is a homage to several past and present strips with characters presented in bear form with all original literary content. While the strip itself is not for sale it is presented free as a character embellishment for the theme of the show.
